DASMA Offers Wind Load Guides

What’s involved in determining wind loads on garage doors?

To help explain such wind loads, DASMA has released Technical Data Sheet (TDS) 155 on Residential and Commercial Wind Load Guides. The document includes a general explanation of wind loads on garage doors, along with Wind Load Guide charts based on commonly used standards and codes. This useful Technical Data Sheet provides help for specifying the appropriate doors for buildings, and it outlines typical requirements for a wind load test.

Wind Load Guide charts show the required design pressures according to the mean roof height, door size, and wind speed. The test conditions include details such as positive and negative pressures, test duration, and deflection limitations.

DASMA’s Commercial and Residential Garage Door Technical Committee prepared TDS 155 for dealers, architects, contractors, and other interested parties. To obtain a free copy of the cover sheet to TDS 155, which shows the Wind Load Guides currently available, contact DASMA at 216-241-7333, fax 216-241-0105, or dasma@dasma.com.
