Here are some of the newest garage door products displayed at the 2009 International Builders’ Show (IBS) in January. Watch for these and other new products at the upcoming International Garage Door Expo in Nashville.

2008: 92,000
2007: 104,000
2006: 105,000

Next year’s show: Las Vegas, Jan. 19-22, 2010.

WHOLE NEW LINE: The Raynor exhibit launched StyleView, a new line of aluminum doors in 187 possible colors and a variety of section designs, including Custom Carriage House and Custom French View (pictured).

CHERRY FIBERGLASS: Wayne-Dalton unveiled two new doors at IBS, soon to hit the market. The new 9800 fiberglass door, offered in a cherry wood carriage house design, is one of the first examples in the industry of cherry in fiberglass. The company also displayed the new 9550 steel door with a directionally correct oak wood print.

NEW OPENERS: Chamberlain introduced a new gate operator (LA412) and a new garage door opener (3840). Model LA412 is a residential solar gate operator for use where a power source is not convenient or available. The 3840 is a 3/4-HP DC-motor opener, Chamberlain’s first and only screw-drive unit in its Elite Series.

TOTALLY NEW DOOR: Clopay unveiled its new Canyon Ridge Collection of insulated steel doors covered with a high-definition faux wood cladding. The polymer composite material is lightweight, durable, easy to maintain, and even feels like wood.

WOODSCAPES: Designer Doors displayed Woodscapes, a semi-custom collection of all-wood doors available in nine different wood species. Matching entry doors are also available.

ALUMINUM, TOO: The trend toward residential full-view aluminum garage doors continues. Pictured: C.H.I. Overhead Doors’ model 3290 in a powdercoat finish and reeded glass.

GEL STAIN: The trend toward a real-wood appearance was represented at the 1st United Door Technologies booth. Pictured: A SteeLite 23-gauge steel door with a walnut gel stain.

GREENEST? (Top) For the first time, Overhead Door displayed its new line of EcoBuilt garage doors, made of 100 percent recycled wood fiber panels. Pictured: The Verde Collection of carriage house EcoBuilt doors. (Bottom) Overhead’s Ranch House custom wood door.

NEW HOME CONTROLS: In the Show Village Media Enhanced Home, Wayne-Dalton offered a hands-on experience of its line of Z-Wave–compatible products. Two coming-soon devices were previewed: the Home Manager, which manages a home controls network, and the new LCD Touch Screen Controller, which offers users visual access to their network.

FIBERGLASS IN HD: C.H.I.’s new model 2752 high-definition fiberglass door turned heads with its arched Somerset glazing and platinum window caming.

NEW WOODGRAIN PRINT: Clopay’s booth featured its new Ultra-Grain, a woodgrain print coating available on the three-layer insulated Gallery Collection of steel doors and on the aluminum Avante Collection. The woodgrain print is directionally accurate, like a real wood door.
