Better Headers, Finer Frames

When a garage door is installed in an inadequate frame, the door dealer can end up looking like the bad guy. The structural integrity of the garage door system is directly dependent on the structural integrity of the framing system.

That’s why DASMA created a specification sheet for wood headers and jambs for residential garage door openings. These specifications should be useful to all parties involved in home construction: the designer, the builder, the door manufacturer, the door dealer, and the homeowner.

These important construction details help ensure that the building frame meets adequate structural requirements. The DASMA spec sheet also identifies conditions that affect installation, such as places where the construction is required to be flush, level, plumb, or square. The sheet also specifies appropriate dimensions and calls attention to the presence of wall coverings, etc.
